Today we encouraged James to write a few cards. As he began writing a birthday message for Oma, I witnessed a small, holy moment.
His words carried a depth that cannot be manufactured: “I am the happiest man on Earth.”
We often learn to filter our emotions – to say what sounds right or what others expect to hear. But there was no performance in his message: only love, gratitude, and joy. At 90 years old, after a long life of struggles and in the midst of Alzheimer’s, he sees himself as the happiest man on Earth. 😍
If I am ever blessed to reach that age, I hope I can hold on to that same kind of joy!
